Cronos
Cronos does not seem to talk about itself much. It took some digging to discover that it is a brand owned by Shenzhen Kehuoren Technology Co. Ltd.
This means Cronos is a Chinese brand based out of Shenzhen, China.
When you spend some time and look at their collection, you may notice that they make mostly homages of Rolexes. These watches tend to run Chinese movements on the inside but are well-finished outside.
These homage models include the ever-popular Submariner, GMT, Datejust, and Explorer. These homages also come in many configurations, just like the original. For example, you can get your Submariner in original black or in blue (the Bluesy.)There are also homages for the Tudor Black Bay and some fliegers at Cronos’s site.
Price wise, Cronos offers affordable homage watches at a fair price. All Cronos watches are covered by a 30-day exchange policy and a generous 3-year warranty.
Cronos seems to ship their watches out from China. If you ordered your watch from them, you might need to allocate between 2-3 weeks for it to arrive.
Benyar
Benyar is also a Chinese homage watchmaker. The brand started in 2012 and has since expanded its watches beyond homages. They also self-design watches under different marques, such as Olevs and Oulm.
For the homages, expect to find homages of many popular watches from Tag Heuer, Hublot, Rolex, or Glashütte Original. In fact, if you look deeper into Benyar’s logo, it may look a little similar to Tag Heuer’s.
A little uncomfortable to some, but at least it is not a direct Replica. You still see the Benyar brand printed on the watch.
Some of the great Benyar models include the BY5140, which is the homage to the Tag Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph. There is also the BY5185, the homage to the Rolex Oyster Perpetual.
Benyar’s watches come with a 12 months warranty and are available on Amazon. This should make your purchase and warranty claims easier.
Boderry
Boderry is a homage watchmaker based in China. They do not offer an extensive range of homages, but it may be enough for many. You can roughly break their own offerings into two types, divers and dress watches.
For the divers, the watches look like homages to Rolex Submariners. Some watches may look a little similar to the older generations of Seiko Monster, especially on the bezel.
As for the dress watches, the design may remind you of the elegant, simple designs from the Omega De Ville collections. Some watches are also made with premium materials, such as titanium or bronze.
Boderry’s watches run either Japanese automatic or Swiss quartz movements. Miyota and Ronda specifically. This should mean maintenance should not be an issue. However, the hi-beat movement with the 72-hour power reserve movement is Chinese.
Boderry ships its watches from China and offers a generous 24-month warranty on their watches. Boderry’s wallet-friendly pricing also makes it one of the more affordable homage watches out there.
Chenxi
Chenxi is a Chinese watchmaking company based in Hong Kong, China. It designs primarily homages that are powered by quartz movements. This means the watches are technologically simple yet well-finished.
Chenxi claims to use the Japanese Miyota Precision quartz movement on their models. This should make your watch maintenance easy.
When reviewing their models, Chenxi’s watches cover many major watch brands. There are homages for Patek Philippe, Richard Mille, Audemars Piguet, Rolex, and Chopard.
Chenxi watches also ships its models from China, meaning if you shop for one, you must allocate 2-3 weeks for it to arrive. It also offers a 2-year limited warranty for its watches.
Christian Van Sant
Christian Van Sant is an American homage watch brand based in Los Angeles, California. However, despite the company being American, Christian Van Sant did not seem to claim that their watches are made in the US itself.
This may mean that their watches are probably made in China. However, the movements are from Miyota. Miyota is a watch movement maker that is now part of Citizen, which means the movement will be of good quality.
As for the models on offer, they seem to have nice homages to watches from Tag Heuer and Audemars Piguet. Some models may remind you of the Tag Heuer Monaco and the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.
There are also models paying homage to Franck Muller. You would like Christian Van Sant’s homages if you like Tonneau-shaped watches with funny, colorful letterings. Christian Van Sant offers a two-year warranty on their watches.
Megir
Megir is also another Chinese homage watchmaker. Their watches may focus on designs that pay homage to models from Tag Heuer, SevenFriday, and Panerai.
Most of Megir’s models are powered by Japanese quartz and automatic movements. This makes maintenance easier, as most of your local watchmakers would have the skills to repair them. Parts would also be easy to get.
Some of the interesting models from Megir include the ML-2182G, which is a homage to the Tag Heuer Monaco. This particular model runs on quartz and is given a Hardlex crystal. It is also the same watch model shown in Breaking Bad, as in the watch Walter White gets from Jesse Pinkman.
Megir’s price range really does make it one of the affordable homage watches you can get. Prices start from as low as $23 upwards to around $100.
One good thing about Megir is you can shop for their watches from Amazon. This makes things easier for you, especially on payment, shipping, and warranty claims.
Baltany
Suppose you like your watches a little old and classic. Or that you enjoy shopping for fliegers. If you are of the same type, you must check out Baltany.
Baltany is also one of the best homage watch brands. It is based in China. You may not be able to find this directly, as Baltany never mentions it directly. It took us some time to dig out the website to discover this.
On top of that, Baltany is also a brand under Shenzhen Kehuoren Technology Co. Ltd. This means Baltany and Cronos are actually sister brands.
You may observe that they focus on producing classical-looking watches with retro designs. If you are into those, there are also fliegers of various designs and configurations.
Baltany uses a collection of movements to power their watches, mostly of Japanese origin. The quartz movements tend to be Seiko’s VD78 or VK74, which means they are of good quality. The automatic movements tend to be Chinese, from Seagull.
Baltany ships its watches from China and offers a 24-month warranty. You can also shop for their watches directly from Amazon, although the offerings are not as complete.
Steeldive
Massive diver watch fan? Or like Seiko divers? Check out Steeldive. It is one of the best homage watch brands from China, focusing primarily on diver models from popular brands. The quality may even rival those of Pagani Design.
There are, of course, homages for the Rolex Submariner. However, you may notice homages for Seiko Tuna, Turtle, and SKX models if you like Seiko watches. Some homages look Doxa-like as well.
Aside from divers, there are homages based on Rolex Oyster Perpetual, Tudor Black Bay, Rolex Explorer, and Blancpain Fifty Fathoms.
These watches are usually given an automatic movement, mostly Seiko’s NH35 movement. Some get quartz movement, also of Japanese origin. This should mean the watch will look and tick well for a long time.
The focus on quality parts and production does make Steeldives one of the not too affordable homage watches in the list. But you are paying for for work, instead of the brand. Now thats fair price.
Some Steeldives models are available at Amazon, although you may need to buy directly online for a full collection. These watches are shipped from China too, which means additional wait time and possible warranty issues in the future.
